After undergoing a rhinoplasty, it is important to follow certain instructions that help reduce discomfort and promote faster healing. Here are the key instructions to follow after a nose surgery, provided by Dr. Tarek Copty.

What are the instructions after nose surgery?

Firstly, it is important to know that it is normal for blood to drain from the nose on the first day after the surgery, so this should not cause concern.

However, following these instructions will greatly help you with this matter and with the overall healing process:

  1. Nasal sprays prescribed by your doctor should be used on the night of the surgery.

  2. Take the prescribed antibiotics for one week.

  3. You may experience a loss of appetite on the first day, but staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids is essential.

  4. On the second day after the surgery, bruising or discoloration may appear under the eyes, and swelling may vary depending on the individual.

  5. It is important to sleep only on your back and place two pillows under your head.

  6. Exercise is allowed after two weeks from the surgery, but you should be cautious not to receive any blows to the nose area.

  7. Usually, painkillers are not taken after rhinoplasty because the surgery is not associated with significant pain.

One week after the rhinoplasty, the splint is removed, and the stitches are also taken out in the doctor’s clinic.

70% of the results of the surgery are visible after one week when the splint is removed, and within the first six months, 90% of the results are seen. The final result of the rhinoplasty appears after a full year from the surgery.

By carefully following these instructions after rhinoplasty, you help ensure a smoother recovery and achieve the desired outcome.
