Overview of Facelift Procedures:
Facelift surgeries are among the most important procedures for women because they can restore 10 to 20 years of youthfulness. By the age of 35, many signs of sagging begin to appear on a woman’s face. Including:
Sagging of the cheek muscles, which makes the smile lines more pronounced.
Sagging under the chin.
Sagging in the forehead and eyebrow area that leads to eye wrinkles.
Botox is considered a solution for these areas of sagging, but it may not give the desired results for women in their 55-60s due to muscle weakness, so facelift is recommended.
Upper Facelift
The brow and forehead lift -aka Upper Facelift- is a highly effective procedure, with guaranteed and satisfying results.
Who benefit from this surgery include:
Patients whom Botox injections don’t respond well with them due to weak muscles and aging sags.
Patients who prefer not to receive Botox injections every six months, as facelift procedure eliminates the need for Botox.
The upper face is lifted using the Endoscopic Facelift technique.
Three small hidden incisions are made with the endoscope, hidden in the hairline to lift the forehead muscles from the inside.
This surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and typically needs 1 to 1.5 hours.
After the surgery bruising and swelling in the forehead which lasts for a week to 10 days. The patient should take rest at home.
No visible scars will show for any of the three incisions and the hair will cover them after 3-4 months.
Lower Facelift:
The jawline area is crucial for a woman after the age of 35 as it determines the appearance of age so we work to restore the glow for her. There are two types of lower facelift surgery:
Mini Facelift:
This procedure is performed in the clinic under local anesthesia.
The Doctor makes an incision starting from below the cheekbone extending into the ear and around to the back of the ear.
As a result cheek muscles are tightened from the inside, which in turn lifts the skin of the cheek, chin, and part of the neck.
The patients who undergo this procedure range in age between 35-50.
Full Facelift:
This surgery is done in the hospital under full anesthesia
The incision is larger than the one used in the Mini Facelifts.
It lifts the cheek muscles with a clear appearance on cheeks, neck and chin.
It takes 1.5 to 2 hours
Bruising shows around the jawline, cheeks, and neck, lasting for a week to 10 days, following that the patient can return to their normal life, though some swelling persists. It typically takes from a month to a month and a half for the face to return to its natural look.
What are the concerns about facelift surgery?
Changes in facial features and unnatural appearances
These appearances were a concern in the old facelift surgeries during the 1980s and 1990s. Because of the skin pulling noticeable and negative change happened.
However, modern facelift surgeries have become more precise as they involve tightening the underlying muscles and lifting the skin so muscles return to their previous years position.
Impact on facial nerves
Facial nerves start behind the ear and spread beneath the salivary glands across the five main nerves. If the surgeon is experienced the risk of nerve damage is minimized.
And if a nerve is touched it’s supposed to return to its normal position in a few weeks.
Dr. Tarek Copty uses a method that avoids cutting with scissors and instead applies gentle pressure near the nerves to prevent any accidental injury.
