After undergoing rhinoplasty, it is essential to follow specific instructions that help alleviate pain and expedite the healing process. Here are the crucial guidelines provided by Dr. Tarek Copty:
What are the instructions after rhinoplasty?
Firstly, it’s important to know that it is normal to experience nasal bleeding within the first day after the surgery, so there is no need to worry about this.
However, adhering to these instructions will greatly assist you in managing this issue and the overall recovery process:
- Use the nasal sprays prescribed by the doctor on the night of the surgery.
- Take antibiotics for a week.
- Appetite loss is likely on the first day, but it is important to focus on staying well-hydrated.
- On the second day post-surgery, there might be bruising or discoloration under the eyes, and swelling varies from person to person depending on their body’s nature.
- Sleep on your back only with two pillows under your head.
- Exercise is permitted after two weeks of the procedure, but be cautious not to receive any blows to the nose area.
- Painkillers are usually not needed after rhinoplasty because the surgery is not typically associated with significant pain.
After a week from the rhinoplasty, the splint is removed, and the nasal pack is also taken out at the doctor’s clinic.
Around 70% of the surgery results become visible after one week and upon removing the splint. During the first six months, about 90% of the results are apparent. The final result of rhinoplasty becomes visible after a full year from the surgery.
By diligently following these post-rhinoplasty instructions, you contribute to ensuring a smoother recovery and achieving the desired outcome.
